Well, my trusty stats program has just informed me that I’ve now gotten over 10,000 unique hits on this site since it opened last July. w00t! Given that this is a one person Linguistics and language blog, that’s just awesome, and I’m really grateful for all the people that read my site and comment on posts.
Although I may write this site for my own enjoyment, another reward for writing all this comes from knowing people are reading and enjoying my work here. As always, feel free to share the site with a friend, with a social bookmarking site, or even using a link from your own page. Every little bit helps in getting the joys of Linguistics out to the masses.
So, thanks for reading, for commenting, for emailing and for linking, and here’s to another 10,000 people exposed to the wonders of language!

Several days back, I posted a long review and commentary about Best Western Ruby’s Inn.
Well, I wanted to let you all know that the manager of Ruby’s Inn has chimed in in the comments, with a partial explanation and a partial apology. As a result, I’ve made a factual correction in the initial post (according to the manager, I’d misremembered the tax as 20% instead of 11%, and apparently the kiosks were 20 cents per minute), and replied to some of his assertions.
Although, as I say in the thread, I still can’t really recommend the hotel, I think it’s important to hear both sides, so I encourage you to check out the comments on the post and hear what Chris had to say.
As always, commenting is encouraged, and I appreciate when people do. Any reader feelings, whether they be praise, corrections, complaints or counterarguments are always welcome.

The site is still “officially” linguisticmystic.com (and will likely be for a long time yet), but I’ve set up “lingmystic.com” as a secondary address. This way, I have a more compact address to give out to people for my email and to link them here, and I don’t have to spell out “linguistic” over the phone any more than necessary.
So, you can now access this site at http://lingmystic.com as well as at the full address, http://linguisticmystic.com. The addresses lingmystic.com and linguisticmystic.com point to the exact same place, and all links, emails, and other such information that work for one address will work for the other. The only difference between the two should be the “-uistic” in the address bar. Please do let me know if you experience any troubles at all.
