Fantastic site! Sydney University should just have a link to it, rather than subject their OSX users to a needlessly frustrating IT runaround. Thank you very much.

Thanks for the tips! You might also note that there's a really simple native Max OS X app that the folks at SIL made, called Ukelele ( http://scripts.sil.org/ukelele ) which allows you to create your own keyboard layouts so you can then input into any other word processor that runs in OS X - for linguists working on unwritten languages like myself who use Toolbox and Praat and such, it is rather a useful tool to create my own keyboard. I find that using the "alt/option" key (in combination with shift at times) is the best bet for creating shortcuts.

Having said that, though, does anyone have MS Word for Mac, and have they tried using Ukelele with it? I'd be interested in the results, as I'm currently in the process of transferring a paper from LaTeX into Word (don't ask) and have run into some issues with the Unicode fonts not being recognized by WinXP/Word2007. I thought the whole point of unicode was so that everyone would use the same fonts, but apparently whoever wrote the OS's didn't talk to each other. I'm wondering if having a Mac copy of Word would solve that issue.

Thank you so much! I've looked everywhere for this information, and finally found your page -- which made it possible at last to install and use these fonts.

Thanks so much for this. Very comprehensive, yet succinct. Just what I was looking for. I only wish I hadn't wasted 2 hours trying to follow the instructions found on other sites.

Thank you so much for this guide, it's really amazing and well done !
I come from Switzerland and I would like to know if you know about font-file for a qwertz keyboard (Swiss keyboard) ? The qwerty keyboard works for me, but it would be easier for me (or others) to use the qwertz keyboard...
Thank you again for your website !
